Biography:
Behind the alter ego of Gemie is the artist Jens Smedman, one of Finland’s most renowned singer/songwriters. Having penned a lot of popular songs
for other artists his services are often asked for. To name a few successes, his curriculum vitae inlcudes two songs in the Finnish ESC final 2005 and second place in 2006 - after the controversial winner LORDI.

Jens Smedman's life is music. Since he first picked up the guitar at the age of six he immediately started to idolize David Bowie. After having played with several bands during his teen years Jens Smedman decided to study music and studio work at Lappfjärds Folkhögskola for two years. That was when the writing really took off and he delivered plenty of good songs.
Songs that caught the attention of many publishers and soon he was signed to world wide publisher Warner Chapell.

During 2004 he brought his alter ego Gemie to life and released the first single "Summer has just begun". The next single "Mr Walker" saw the light of day in 2005.
The album "The Circus and The Monkey" is Gemies first full length album and will be out on the shelves on November 9, 2007.
The music of Gemie is a blend of melodic, alternative rock and pop. The listener will find uptempo influences from David Bowie and Marc Bolan (T Rex) as well as a laid back and more emotional side of Gemie.
